My name is Lydia, and I am the hands and ideas behind these creations. First off, thank you for visiting! I hope you’ve had a pleasant experience.
Secondly, let me tell you about myself and what I do. Making things is in my blood. My grandma, my aunties, and my mom all have the ability to transform one thing into another, whether it be a piece of fabric, a blank canvas, a room in a house, or an old mannequin. When I was younger, I would have an idea and my mom would sew it into fruition. I was more into paper crafts (making cards), knitting, and mosaics so didn’t sit down at a machine much. As an adult, what really got me interested in sewing was a project from 2011, in preparation for my wedding. It wasn’t anything complicated, but it was a big undertaking. My mom and my aunts all helped. That summer vacation at the beach, we all sat around the dining room table cutting and sewing pennant flags to string up as decorations for the upcoming wedding. We did hundreds! And now those flags get passed between all my cousins for weddings and baby showers. It’s the love and memories that are a part of them that make those flags so special.
As I’ve grown as a quilter, I’ve come to consider myself a thoughtful maker. There are secret messages and hints at memories in everything I make. Even if it’s for someone I don’t know, I learn a few things about them and incorporate it as best as I can. I love finding unexpected fabric pairings, using lots of color, and bringing my (and your!) ideas to life.
